About CAS

As an accomplished energy advisor with two decades of experience originating and closing landmark structured commodities transactions, Randy has provided over $5B in funding to clients. 

 

Randy founded Commodities Advisory Services (CAS) to provide clients with expertise and added capacity in commodities structured financings and commercial optimization of physical oil flows. CAS also supports clients with M&A diligence and portfolio company governance as well as providing expert testimony in legal proceedings involving commodities contract disputes.

 

Prior to CAS, Randy worked at Citigroup Commodities as the Head of Structured Transactions in Oil and E&P. In this role, he originated, negotiated, and executed commodities structured transactions for Citi. Randy originated and structured a refinery inventory funding and pre-pay transaction ($370M total capital), a series of off-balance sheet inventory funding transactions for a public midstream client, a series of exchange margin funding transactions, and a multi-year crude supply, hedging, transportation and inventory funding transaction. 

Before Citigroup, Randy was with Morgan Stanley as the Managing Director and Head of the Strategic Transactions Group, managing a 13-person global team responsible for principal investing, oil origination and structured transactions. During his tenure, Randy led commercial diligence on the acquisition of TransMontaigne, with $1 billion in enterprise value and 32 MMB of storage. He originated and structured: supply, offtake, and inventory funding transactions for 7 refineries ($2.1B in capital and 1.1 MMBD in trading flow); product supply and inventory funding for airline and midstream clients ($650M in capital and 450 KBD of supply); and reserve funding transactions for E&P clients ($2.3B in total capital). Randy also served on the private and public company boards of TransMontaigne.

 

Prior to Morgan Stanley, Randy worked with TransCanada Energy, Clark Refining (acquired by Premcor), Transworld Oil, and Chevron in crude trading and trading management. He traded crude oil in various markets including the Americas, Canada, and the Atlantic Basin. He initially worked as a Refinery Engineer for Chevron.
